The Glorious And Important Things I Did Today

- Woke up at 1:30 in the afternoon.

- Read about 55 pages of Brothers Karamazov. If you do the math, that’s about 1/22nd of the book. Not bad for an hour’s reading. I think I know who’s gonna kill the old man already.

- Printed off a bunch of lyrics and some “tabs” for me and Miyazaki’s hardcore band. That’s right, we’re gonna do a cover band of hardcore tunes from yesteryear. Probably nobody will dig it, but fuck em, we will. It’s not much, but making yourself happy is the one tiny thing you can do to make the world a better place. We picked some stuff to do… Government Issue, Rites of Spring, Dag Nasty, Minor Threat, Black Flag, Husker Du, Circle Jerks… basically, it looks like my record collection when I was 16. The sad thing is that, no matter how simple the songs are, I’m not sure I can coordinate the playin with the singin. We’ll have to see, may have to make em simpler.

- Looked outside, but it was sunny and there were people all over the place, so I thought better of venturing out. I have a stack of seafood cup instant noodles and a full can of coffee, so I should be alright today. A quick trip to Lawson’s for a chu-hi might be in order later. But, we’ll see how I feel. Getting out of my pajamas seems like a horrible chore.

- Read some news online. BIG mistake. A new beam that can shoot pain straight into the head of a protester, Toshiba is making tiny nuclear reactors to be used in Japan US and Europe, the US is using highly directional cameras that can see what you’re doing even in a huge crowd, Homeland Security agents put random people on terror lists to meet their quotas, there is now a law in the US that labels people terrorists if they even think about trying to do anything to change society, the US military is trying to change the earth’s weather for (guess what) warlike purposesthe only good news was that people hate Starbucks so much, it may be actually helping small mom-and-pop coffeeshops. Oddly, all this creeping fascist world totalitarian government humanity-is-doomed nightmare scenario stuff I’ve been reading coincides with The Grand Inquisitor chapter from Brothers Karamazov. Creepy.

- Ate some squishy things that are considered “traditional” new years food. “Every type of food has a meaning,” Miho said. “You mean, instead of taste?” I didn’t say but wanted to… I should be grateful and shit like that. When in Rome, etc., etc.
